The unfortunate death of Freddie Gray and unanswered questions leaves the city of Baltimore enraged and the world shocked yet once again. One thing we know for sure is Gray was arrested, was struggling to walk but upon arrival to the police station Freddie Gray was unresponsive. He also suffered spinal injuries that police are not speaking about and the van made multiple stops before the arrival.
For me, it is hard to understand why Freddie Gray was arrested in the first place. Granted he was running from police once notified they were coming but what happened from that point until his death is a complete mystery and this is where the protesting and anger comes in from the African-American community. People must understand that we have gone through enough B**lls*** since the beginning of time and a lot of the authorites are not being penalized for their actions. Instead they are found not guilty, allowed to vacation, put on desk duty or given paid leave. That only tells not only the community but the world that it is okay for police to continue to abuse, beat and kill because the judicial system will take the inner oath to protect and serve their department.
Please continue to pray for Baltimore as it gets worse each and every day. I have mixed emotions about it because I feel the looting and destroying other peoples property isn't the answer nor the right thing to do but what is the right thing to do when you try to protest peacefully and yet in "Other" communities they call the African-Americans animals, niggers to their face and hang black garbage bags to show the hatred? How would you respond? I have sat on this story for a few days to evaluate and see the response of the media, social media and peers. It seems to shock but not surprise me... Of course we expect the media to make Freddie Gray and the community look like bad guys, but I don't undeerstand the power of the celebrities on social media and the platform they have and yet not take advantage of it. My peers seem to have more of the emotion that they would result in doing the same things that are going on in Baltimore because of fustration. I absolutely believe in standfing your ground and fighting for what you believe because the response would be different if it came from your own backyard and if it were a Caucasian person instead of a Black man. I'm truly tired of seeing ALL LIVES MATTER! Yes, we know that but we are speaking about Black people. BLACK LIVES MATTER!!!! It seems that an animal has more rights than of a African-American living in America! Let's be real...
Right now, the Nation of Islam has united two biggest rivalries to date, The Bloods and Crips. The histroy between this group dates back to LA and their riots. History seems to repeat itself because, they have called truce and turned the color red and blue into BLACK. They are standing as a whole for the voice of the African-American community in Baltimore and Black America that has had enough. Once again, even though I don't agree with looting, I do believe they are speaking their minds but through actions.
Watching the news, I've seen people stomping on police and civilian cars, looting of neighborhood stores and people throwing garbage cans full of fire at the authorities. This is a sad sight to see but then I feel when is enough, enough? I've also witnessed the debate of past civil rights leaders like Martin Luther King come to factor. People tend to say that Dr. King fought and stood for non-violence and he would be turning over in his grave right now, but was he respected? No, in return the government murdered him. Dr. King knew in his heart how the system was but he chose to make the oeaceful statement and use his voice. People are leaning more of the Black Panther Party and Malcolm X theory: By Any Means Necessary. Many feel that this is the only solution to the problem at hand. How do you feel? I agree at this point, if looting and damaging property were eliminated, that would be an action I would take. My next question is, where is Al Sharpton and all the other "leaders"? I don't think waiting until it dies down then making an appearance is the appropriate statement neither. All it states is the obviious and displays the lack of compassion for the real problem.
Continue to Pray for Baltimore because they are now in a state of emergency. Stay tuned as this story develops more.
