Where and what rock have I been hiding under for this past few seasons of ABC's "Black-ish?" With a cast that consist of Traci Ellis-Ross, Anthony Anderson and Lawrence Fishbourne comes a story seen through the eyes of Black America! This is something that was lost on TV for a while. I recall growing up, African -American tv sitcoms were everywhere. From Family Matters, The Cosby Show, A Different World, Martin and more. It seems that America felt too much positivity and peace were displayed, so shows were cancelled but seems that hope is coming back with "Black-ish". I do have a question about the "ish" part... What does that mean? Not black enough? I do acknowledge the main characters has successful careers. Is that not enough? There's still a question mark lingering in my head about that and it will be answered.
Let's focus on the topic at hand. Let's talk about how Black-ish gave America a definitive answer that racism is live and direct with a minute and a half speech given by Anthony Anderson. Below is the segment where Dre Johnson (Anthony) broke it down to Rainbow (Traci) in front of their family how police violence and Barack Obama’s election was a simple example of America racism everyday and how it will never vanish.
I was forced to watch this show and now have my DVR set to watch future episodes every Wednesdays at 9:30 EST on ABC to see what will follow this "headlining" episode.
Please support this sitcom in hopes that it won't get cancelled next because of freedom of speech as well as having an all Black cast! We can't afford to loose something great!
