Have you ever heard of the "Gates Millennium Scholars" program? The Gates Millennium Scholar is funded by Bill Gates, the man behind Microsoft and also noted as one of the richest people in the world. Yes u read it correctly, Bill Gates gives back to the community to help improve the lives of the youth.

This Scholarship program was established to provide African-American, American-Indian/Alaska Native, Asian Pacific Islanders and Hispanic Americans students with a once in a lifetime opportunity to complete any college of choice without paying a dime until their Doctorate Degree is complete. Guess who was apart of the pick amongst 999 other students? Carneisha Daniels, a girl from John Taylor High School located in Texas.

Carneisha Daniels is an Advancement Via Individual Determination student, a member of the National Honor Society and many other organizations within John Taylor High School. She has also won multiple awards and been celebrated by her community, church and peers!!!

For any students wondering how to apply for the scholarship program, you must take interest in one of these subjects ONLY:

-Computer Science

-Education

-Mathematics

-Engineering

-Library Science

-Science

-Public Health

Each year, more than 50,000 students apply national but 1,000 of the scholars are selected. If you may be interested in applying or may know someone worthy, have them visit www.gmsp.org to gain a better understanding of the process. It's time to highlight the good within the media and not only speak about the bad! The children are the future and here is one excellenet resource for them to start at.
